Baba Charlie has now closed for business at King Street Wharf Sydney.
The site is currently being renovated for a new Indian restaurant to be open around July 2016 – Lal Qila – Qila of Royal Mughli Dining Experience.
Stay tuned for review of the new Indian restaurant at King Street Wharf.
Baba Charlie Malaysian Restaurant at King Street Wharf Sydney specialises in Nonya Malay food which is the food in Malaysia created by immigrant Chinese marrying with the local Malay people and mixing both Chinese influence food and the local hot spicy Malaysian food.
As well as the delicious Nonya Malay food, Baba Charlie also serves up traditional Malaysian food as well they have a Thai menu from the I Thai Restaurant which used to operate at a different location in King Street Wharf and now migrated in with Baba Charlie.
Some of the food that make Nonya Malay food famous are the Curry Laksa noodle soups, King Prawns and Pineapple curry (this the signature dish of Baba Charlie), Beef Rendang (which was actually modified from the original Randang from Padang West Sumatra Indonesia and adopted as a Nonya dish), Kapitan Kari fish which is famous in Penang Malaysia.
I’ve had the Laksa soup at Baba Charlie a few time and it is one of my favourite laksas in Sydney (check out the Best Laksa in Sydney). The Malaysian spicy coconut soup is prepared with both Hokkien noodles and Vermicelli noodles and you have the option of Vegetables and Tofu, Chicken, Beef, Prawns, Chicken and prawns or Seafood. The laksa at Baba Charlie price starts at $15.90 up to $18.90 for the seafood comination Laksa noodle soup.
