The Chinese Gardens are located in Jurong Singapore are 15 minutes by taxi west of the city centre. The Chinese Gardens, also known as Jurong Gardens were built in 1975 by a Taiwanese architect Yuen-Chen Yu. The Chinese Gardens are open daily from 6am – 11pm and are free of charge to enter.

At the main entrance of the Chinese Gardens is The Koi Pond which is a tranquil enclosure surrounded by the main arch entrance which is built in the Chinese imperial style. The Koi fish are fed daily between 1pm and 1.30pm.

The main pagoda at the Chinese Gardens is a 7 storey pagoda built on a hill close to the centre of the gardens. The pagoda was modelled on a pagoda at the Ling Ku Temple in Nanjing China. You can climb up to the top of the pagoda and walk around the get a 360 degree view of the entire Chinese gardens.

Garden of Abundance

The Garden of Abundance, located with the Chinese Gardens has a collection of stone sculptures including a sculpture for each of the 12 Chinese zodiac characters. The Garden of Abundance was opened on 1st June 2002.

White Rainbow Bridge

The White Rainbow Bridge or Pai Hung Ch’iao connects the Chinese Gardens with the Japanese Gardens. The bridges arches were built as a replica of the bridge at the Summer Palace in Beijing.

Close to the lake with the Stone Boat and Tea House is a grand statue of Confucius who was the great Chinese philosopher and educator who lived between 551BC – 479BC. The statue was erected in the Chinese Gardens in 1985.

Stone Boat and Tea House

Resting in the lake within the Chinese Gardens is the Stone Boat and Tea House. The Stone Boat was built in the Peking style and the tea house is a miniature copy of a similar Tea House found at the Summer Palace in Beijing. On the top floor of the Stone Boat is a Chinese Seafood restaurant.

Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum

Within the grounds of the Chinese Gardens is the Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum which was setup to rescue turtles and Tortoises which were pets of local Singapore people who no longer could care for them. One display are many different species of turtle and tortoise. Entry to the museum costs S$5.

Getting to the Chinese Gardens Singapore

A taxi from the Orchard Rd area of Singapore will cost around S$20 to get to the Chinese gardens.

You can also get the MRT train to the Chinese Garden EW25 Station. A train will take around 20 minutes to get there. There is around a 10 minute walk from the train station to the Chinese Gardens.
