The newest restaurant to open at King Street Wharf Sydney is Hulu, opened in March 2018.
Hulu is a Chinese restaurant opened at the location vacated by another Chinese restaurant Pier Nine which closed down in 2017.
Hulu has an established restaurant in Crows Nest, described at Chinese cuisine redefined. Hulu serves up a range of Chinese dishes from quite a few of the different types of Chinese cuisine including Sichuan, Cantonese, Northern China, Shanghainese. Some of the dishes on the menu include Dim Sum dishes, pork ribs, crispy tofu, soy duck pancakes, Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings, deep fried beef and lamb dumplings. One of the more interesting dishes on the menu I would like to try is their sweet and sour pork served on ice. This is a cold dish and the manager told me the ice makes the pork even more delicious. I will have to try.
Get in quick as Hulu have an opening lunch special of 50% off their Dim Sim dumplings, Soups and Starter menus between 11am and 2pm. The opening special is only available until Friday 16th March 2018. Terms and conditions apply.
I went in on opening week and tried some of there dumplings. A good feed for sure. I had some of their Xiao Long Bao ($9.80 for 5 dumplings), the Prawn Har Gow ($10.80 for 3) and some of their very cute Nemo Dumplings which has prawn and seafood inside, shaped like a Nemo fish ($10.80 for 3).
The Xiao Long Bao were tasty but they didn’t really have alot of the soup inside and they didn’t serve these with the traditional Chinese vinegar and the slices of ginger. Still tasty but disappointing without the explosion of steaming hot soup inside the dumpling.
