New Shanghai is a cool Chinese restaurant located on the lower ground floor of the Queens Plaza Shopping Mall, right on Queens Street Mall in the heart of Brisbane City CBD. Serving a great range of Shanghai cuisine including the King of Dumplings, the Xiao Long Bao – Shanghai Soup Dumplings.

This is a very popular restaurant, with great decor and an impressive selection of tasty Chinese Shanghai food. Right out the front of the restaurant is an open kitchen where you can see all the action of the chefs preparing the dumplings.

I went in for a late lunch around 1.30pm and easily got a table to enjoy a steaming bamboo bowl loaded full of the delicious Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings. These really are my favourite dumplings of all time! No matter how often I eat these, I still burn my tongue on the piping hot soup inside the dumpling, when I pop the first dumpling straight in my mouth! Never learn!

The menu at New Shanghai has a great selection of tasty food including these soup dumplings, a selection of other Dim Sum fried or steamed dumplings, pork ribs, fried noodle dishes and a nice selection of seafood dishes. Prices are very reasonable considering this restaurant is right in the heart of Brisbane city centre.

This restaurant is licenced and has the imported Chinese beer Tsing Tao which goes perfectly with this tasty Chinese food.

Big thumbs up to this busy restaurant. Great food and I found the service to be very good, with my dumplings only taking about 5 minutes to come out after I ordered.
