Located on Level 7 of the Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku, Yamanami is a high-class teppanyaki restaurant with a chef cooking your choice of beef, seafood and vegetables on the large hotplate right in front of you.
I had dinner at Yamanami and it is a very classy restaurant which awesome food. Prices are quite high but well worth it if you want to try some awesome Japanese teppan-yaki food.
The menu is very straight forward. A choice of 2 types of beef (Kobe beef or Hida beef) and a few selections of seafood including spiny lobster and scallops and a choice of seasonal vegetables.
Just 100 grams of the Kobe beef costs 11,500 Yen (around A$145 or US$110) and 100 grams of the Hida beef costs 12,500 Yen. I went for dinner with a friend and we had 100 grams of the Kobe beef, 100 grams of the Hida beef, some scallops, seasonal vegetables and a bowl of rice. This was enough food for us. With a few beers and sake the bill came to just over 34,000 yen (around A$430 or US$325) so an expensive meal but the food and service were excellent!
