Filipino Food in Surfers Paradise – Barangay Fiesta Restaurant
Lumpiang Shanghai Spring Rolls at Barangay Fiesta

Barangay Fiesta Restaurant first opened in Surfers Paradise on Friday 8th October 2021. Serving traditional Filipino food from the Pampanga province of the Philippines, just northwest of Manila, known as the culinary capital of the Philippines. I would class this is a cheap eats restaurant in Surfers Paradise as they are serving good quality Filipino food at a very reasonable price and the servings are very generous! Time to feast!

I discovered this restaurant in February 2022, went in for a light dinner and was very impressed with the good quality food. The restaurant was probably about half full and most in there were large families of local Filipinos all enjoying a feast.

I started with an entree of some very tasty Lumpiang Shanghai Spring Rolls ($9.90). This was a serve of 8 spring rolls. Other restaurants would only give you 3 or 4 spring rolls and charge you the same price. This was served with some sweet chilli sauce. You can also get a Lumpiang Gulay Vegetable spring rolls ($9,90), deep fried Calamari ($12.90) or chicken skin ($7.90).

For my main I had 3 sticks of their BBQ Chicken Skewers. These were huge tender pieces of chicken with BBQ sauce. I was surprised how much meat was on the skewers. Again other restaurants would have half the meat on a chicken skewer and charge the same price. Great value meals here at Barangay Fiesta.

I will back to Barangay Fiesta on my next visit to Surfers Paradise to try their traditional Sisig ($21.90) which comes from the Pampanga province. This is a hot plate with minced pork. You can choose to have an egg on top of the sisig.
