Don’t expect wild nightlife in Langkawi Island. This tranquil island does have a nightlife scene though don’t expect wild nightclub parties until dawn. The nightlife on Langkawi Island is more chilled out with some nice bars along the beach to watch the sunset, sit back with a nice cocktail and chill out to some live music. The Cliff Bar
If you like a bar with a view of the beach and the sunset then The Cliff Bar at the The Cliff Resort is the best bar in Pantai Cenang. Located on the head land, located right at the southern end of Pantai Cenang, built on a platform over the water with clear views right down the beach and the best bar to watch the sunset. Tiger beers only cost 8.80 MYR which is a bargain for a bar with such a great view. Located right behind the Underwater World. With free WiFi internet access and no password, just connect.
The sign out the front of OMG Bar says ‘Happy Endings Start Here’. OMG Bar is a large open air bar found right out the front of the Cenang Mall along the main road of Pantai Cenang. OMG Bar is open everynight until 2am, one of the few very late night bars in Pantai Cenang. Behind the bar are 2 large TV screens which show live sports. Every night there is live music. The band usually plays an upbeat jazz rock. A draft tiger beer costs 12 Ringgit. OMG Bar has free WiFi internet access. When you connect you just have to register with you name, email and phone number.
Down on the beach, directly in front of the Cenang Mall are 3 chilled out bars with tables down on the sand. These bars serve up cheap drinks, with music until late into the evening. They open late afternoon so you can grab a drink and watch the sunset on the beach.
Little Lylia’s Chillout Cafe
Little Lylia’s Chillout Cafe is open all day long serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the evening it is a reggae bar playing loads of Bob Marley music. The tables are right down on the sand with nice mood lighting. There are hokka pipes available to smoke shisha at your table.
Raffii’s Beach Bar
Raffii’s Beach Bar is located right next door to Little Lylia’s Chillout Cafe. Same setup – tables and chairs down on the sand, cool music and food is available.
Low Wrong Bar
Low Wrong Bar is the next bar along from Raffii’s Beach Bar. Low Wrong Bar opens at 7pm and is open till late, at least midnight, later if there are people still drinking there. Cocktails are 10 MYR and you can hire a hooka pipe with shisha for 25 MYR. The Bar Rules are displayed next to the bar – Bar Rule 1 – If you are still standing you need another beer! No responsible service of alcohol here! There are no chairs at the Low Wrong Bar, just very small tables on the sand to rest your drinks. just sit down on the sand and enjoy the relaxed vibe.
Cba Beach Bar
Cba Beach Bar is a classy beach bar in the Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort, right at the northern end of Pantai Cenang, the last beach resort along the beach. Open for lunch and dinner Cba Beach Bar has nice big comfy chairs, a great menu of seafood dishes and local Malaysian food. There is live music every night of the week except for Monday nights.
Don Ton Resort Bar
Don Ton Resort is a rustic resort with traditional wooden Malay houses, located 2 kilometers north of Pantai Cenang. Out the back of the resort is a huge open air bar and restaurant. Overlooking some mangroves the bar area has great views of the sunset. Pop in for a drink and then stay for the awesome food at the Nam Restaurant with a choice of tapas/mezze or some of the best Malay food including their specialty, Nyonya Laksa.
The Pelangi Lounge is a classy bar in the foyer of the Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort at the northern end of Pantai Cenang. With a solo musician playing in the evenings, large comfy lounge chairs, Pelangi Lounge serves a range of cocktails, beers and spirits and a good range of coffees. Pelangi Lounge is open everyday from 11am – 1am.
