Marinades Indian Restaurant Cairns Marina

Marinades Indian Restaurant is located overlooking the Cairns Marina. A traditional Indian restaurant serving all your classic Indian curries, chutneys and meat and seafood cooked in the Tandoor oven. The outdoor dining area (is under cover) does have a lovely view over the Cairns Marina.

I had a real craving for Indian food when I was staying in Cairns. I was staying at the Hilton Hotel so it was just a short stroll along the Cairns Marina to the restaurant. I did make a booking via their website through the day but don’t think I needed to. The restaurant was busy but not all the tables were full.

There was a QR code on the table which allowed you to order and pay for the meal via an app via your mobile phone. I didn’t mind doing this and know that it saves the restaurant money for staff to take your order, but I really felt this made this restaurant a little impersonal. I had very little to do with the staff other than thank them for when they delivered my food. I guess the big plus of this system was, as soon as I was ready to leave, I just got up and left as I had already paid, so no need to wait for the bill.

I had a fairly basic meal but this is all that I wanted during my visit. First up the entree was the Samosa which were tasty.

For main I just had a plate of Tandoori chicken and some naan bread. I didn’t want any rice. The chicken was probably a little bit overcooked, with the skin black charcoal which also made the chicken a little bit dry. Also the chicken tandoori arrived but still no naan bread. This was the only time I had to call the attention of a staff member who quickly went and hurried up the kitchen. It did take a few minutes wait before I got the bread.

Overall I did enjoy the meal but doubt I’ll visit this restaurant again. Tick. Been there, done that! I will try a different Indian restaurant next time I have a craving in Cairns.
