Much & Mellow Cafe Ao Nang: My New Breakfast Spot

Much & Mellow Cafe Ao Nang: My New Breakfast Spot
Relaxing afternoon view from the balcony at Much & Mellow Cafe in Ao Nang – looking up to the dramatic Ao Nang Tower rock formation with soft shadows before the sun hits!

If you’re in Ao Nang and hunting for the perfect morning spot, Much & Mellow Cafe has officially stolen my heart (and my daily coffee budget). With a stellar 4.6/5 rating on Google (thousands of reviews), it’s neck-and-neck with Cafe 8.98 as one of the top cafes in town – and after alternating between the two, I can confidently say Much & Mellow is my new favorite.

Location couldn’t be better: I’m staying at Ao Nang Village Resort, just a lazy 2-minute stroll slightly downhill toward the beachfront, or a quick 350m walk uphill from Ao Nang Beach itself. The cafe sits on the main road with a lovely balcony offering views across Ao Nang Road and a teasing glimpse up to the iconic Ao Nang Tower rock formation. Catch sunrise around 7:30 AM as the sun peeks over the rock’s shoulder – magical with an umbrella-shaded table protecting you from that intense morning glare. The sunset view of Ao Nang Tower from Much & Mellow is very nice.

I’ve visited twice so far (and will be back – photos incoming as I work through the menu!):

First up: the Market Fruit Yoghurt – a generous bowl of creamy Greek yoghurt topped with dragon fruit, mango, blueberries, banana, chia seeds, and a drizzle of honey. Fresh, vibrant, and just the right balance of tangy and sweet – felt healthy without skimping on indulgence.

Next morning: the Overnight Oats with Tropical Fruit – mango, strawberries, blueberries, shredded coconut, and passionfruit. Cool, filling, and bursting with island flavors. Perfect fuel before a day of beach-hopping or island tours.

Afternoon delight: coffee and cake – with 4 different cakes today carrot cake, red velvet, chocolate cake and banoffee pie. The banofee was delicious.

Coffee lovers rejoice: they actually have Flat White printed on the menu (right next to latte – we all know the secret) for just 100 THB (~AUD 4.80). Still cheaper than my daily Sydney fix, and executed properly – strong, smooth, no burnt notes. They have 3 coffee blends to choose from light, medium or dark roasted.

I’ll definitely be back for lunch or dinner to tackle their burger menu – those things look insane. The photos on the menu had me hooked already, but when a massive, juicy burger landed on the table next to me, full-on food envy kicked in!

With eight mouthwatering options – classic beef or pork, spicy chorizo, luxurious truffle, smashed patties, chicken, or falafel for the veggie crowd – there’s something for everyone. (Full burger menu in the photo below.)

If you’re in Ao Nang and craving a proper burger fix, Much & Mellow has you covered. Can’t wait to report back after round three!

One quirky note: cash only. First visit, I tried to pay by card and only had 100 THB on me – they kindly held my phone while I dashed to change money nearby (just a few hundred meters). No 3% card fee here, unlike many spots in Ao Nang, so win for cash carriers!

Verdict: Much & Mellow is relaxed, delicious, and perfectly positioned – the ideal breakfast (or anytime) cafe in Ao Nang. Friendly staff, great views, and food that hits all the right spots. I’ll be rotating through their menu for the rest of my stay. Highly recommended – add it to your Krabi list!
