My Pho Ao Nang: A Solid Vietnamese Spot in the Heart of Krabi

My Pho Ao Nang: A Solid Vietnamese Spot in the Heart of Krabi
Inviting interior at My Pho in Ao Nang – 6 tables inside with additional outdoor seating for relaxed Vietnamese dining!

Tucked down a quiet side soi just 300 meters up from Ao Nang Beach (off the main Ao Nang Road), My Pho is a small, cafe-style gem specializing in authentic Vietnamese classics – think steaming bowls of Pho, crispy Banh Mi, and fresh spring rolls. It’s the kind of unpretentious place that feels like a local secret, even in tourist-heavy Ao Nang.

I’ve eaten here twice now, and it’s quickly become a go-to for a lighter, flavorful meal away from the heavier Thai curries.

First visit: the Traditional Pork Banh Mi. Shredded pork with that rich pork sauce, crisp veggies (daikon, carrot, cucumber), cilantro, and a generous swipe of mayonnaise – all in a perfectly crusty baguette. It was a solid 8/10 – fresh, balanced, and satisfying. Would’ve hit 10/10 with a smear of pâté (classic Vietnamese touch), but still one of the better Banh Mi I’ve had in Thailand.

Second visit: the Raw Beef Pho (190 THB A$9). Oh man – this was spot-on. Tender raw beef slices that cook gently in the piping-hot, aromatic broth (star anise and cinnamon notes shining through). The broth was particularly outstanding – rich, beefy, with that bone marrow depth that left a delicious, lingering coating on my lips. Noodles had perfect bite, herbs fresh – pure comfort in a bowl.

Sides were simple but effective: a can of Coke for 20 THB (no beer spotted on my visits – soft drinks and Vietnamese coffee seem the focus).

They accept credit cards with no surcharge – always a plus in cash-heavy Thailand.

Other popular dishes from the menu and reviews:

  • Fresh Spring Rolls (goi cuon) – rice paper wraps with shrimp, pork, herbs, and peanut sauce.
  • Grilled Pork Vermicelli (bun thit nuong) – charred pork over noodles with veggies and nuoc cham.

My Pho isn’t flashy, but it’s clean, affordable, and delivers genuine Vietnamese flavors in a beach town dominated by Thai/Indian/Italian. If you’re craving Pho or Banh Mi after days of pad Thai, this is your spot. I’ll be back before I leave Krabi – highly recommended for a casual, tasty meal!

(Pro tip: Grab a table inside for air-con relief from the Krabi heat.)
