Cafe 8.98 Ao Nang: The Breakfast Spot
The Ao Nang Breakfast Spot Everyone’s Talking About (And Rightfully So!)
If you’re in Ao Nang and hunting for the perfect breakfast or brunch, look no further than Cafe 8.98 – currently sitting pretty with a 4.6/5 rating from over 4,644 Google reviews (as of December 2025). That’s not just good; that’s “people-are-serious-about-their-coffee-and-pancakes” territory.

I wandered past on my first morning around 8:30 AM and it was already buzzing – tables full, the smell of fresh coffee and baked goods pulling everyone in like a magnet. Lesson learned: I returned the next day at 7:30 AM sharp and snagged a prime spot. The breakfast menu is a winner. Prices are fair for the quality and portion sizes:
- Eggs Benedict (280 THB)
- Veggie Omelette (240 THB)
- Smashed Avocado on Toast (320 THB)
- French Toast (290 THB)
- Breakfast Tacos (260 THB).
They also nail Thai lunch options like Pad Ka-Pao Neua (180 THB) and the ridiculously good Gai Ta-Kai grilled lemongrass chicken thigh with jaew sauce (just 90 THB – an absolute steal).
But the real magic? Their coffee and cake set for 170 THB. Pick from 3–4 freshly baked beauties on display – I spotted Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, Black Forest, and Chocolate Cake. Perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

Indulge in this mouthwatering decadent chocolate cake at Café 8.98 – the perfect sweet treat after a day at Ao Nang Beach!

1st morning order: the Lemon Ricotta Banana Pancakes (around 290 THB). I’m not usually a pancake guy (empty calories and all that), but these were different – fluffy ricotta pancakes loaded with fresh blueberries, banana slices, crunchy pine nuts, zesty lemon curd, and a sinful salted butter caramel sauce. It felt indulgent yet somehow virtuous with all the fruit and nuts. One plate filled me up until late afternoon.
2nd morning order – Mango Coconut Chia Puddings – so good

Location bonus: I’m staying at Ao Nang Village Resort (around 2000 Thb per night – US$64), literally a 2-minute stroll across the main road toward the beach – couldn’t be more convenient.
Verdict: Cafe 8.98 lives up to the hype and then some. Great food, friendly service, fair prices, and that perfect relaxed Ao Nang vibe. I’ll be back in the next few days to work through more of the breakfast menu (those Breakfast Tacos are calling my name).
8.98 cafe has a nice balcony with 8 tables and more inside. The balcony overlooks the main road with a spectacular view up to Ao Nang Tower, the main rock formation at the end of Ao Nang Beach. The sunrise breaks over the back of the rock so best shots will be in the afternoon and sunset.

Highly recommended – if you’re in Ao Nang, make this your morning ritual.
