Steamed Prawn Dumplings at Dynasty Chinese Restaurant Tokyo Next were the Siu Mai pork dumplings which another go to dish of mine when I go for Yum Cha. Another tasty dish. Siu Mai Dumplings at Dynasty Chinese Restaurant Tokyo 3rd in this meal were the Deep Fried Springs Rolls which has a combination of pork, crab meat and shrimp inside. I usually pass on spring rolls as generally they are quite plain but these were the star of this meal. They were so crispy on the outside and there were some lovely chunks of the various meat and seafood inside. Spring Rolls at Dynasty Chinese Restaurant Tokyo Last of the Dim Sum menu were the Meat balls with sticky rice. This is something I had never seen on a Yum Cha / Dim Sum menu before. They were OK but I could have passed on these and had another serving of the spring rolls. December 20, 2018If you are looking for some of the best Chinese food in Tokyo then head straight to Joe’s Shanghai New York Chinese Restaurant, you will not be disappointed. Joe’s Shanghai Chinese Restaurant Ginza Tokyo Joe’s Shanghai is New York chic meets Shanghai great food. The restaurant would not look out of place in high end suburb of New York with a New York chic style like from the 1930’s. The food is definitely Chinese, no doubt about that, with a huge kitchen with glass window so you can see inside and see all the action in the kitchen. There are a number of dishes at Joe’s Shanghai that are a must try. The grilled pork belly is just the best, grilled with a crispy crackling skin and succulent meat with loads of flavour. There are plenty of dishes to choose from including seafood, pork, chicken, a good variety of vegetable and tofu dishes as well as rice and noodle dishes. From the seafood menu you can try dishes like stir fried plump prawns with Szechuan hot and spicy sauce or the crisp and crunchy steamed whole abalone. There are a few dim sum items on the menu including steamed pork dumplings, Joe’s famous crab meat soup dumplings and steam shrimp dumplings. Chicken dish at Joe’s Shanghai Tokyo And then there is the chefs specialty – the soup dumplings. You cannot come to this restaurant with trying the soup dumplings which are commonly found in Shanghai China. The soup dumplings are small dumplings with either pork, shrimp or seafood and filled with a tasty broth soup which adds a whole new dimension to your standard dumplings. Careful not to throw a dumpling straight in your mouth as soon as they get to the table, the soup inside is extremely hot. Soup Dumplings at Joe’s Shanghai Restaurant Joe’s Shanghai is located at 1−9−13 Ginza Tokyo. Open everyday for lunch from 11.30am to 3pm and dinner 5pm – 9pm. October 13, 2016I love Shanghai Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) so I was pleasantly surprised to find Paradise Dynasty Restaurant in Ginza on my last visit to Tokyo. A famous Chinese restaurant from Singapore, Paradise Dynasty restaurant specializes in Shanghai Soup Dumplings. Some describe Paradise Dynasty as serving the tastes of Singapore! Well Chinese Singapore! Located right next to Ginza Subway Station, take exit C8 and you will find yourself right next to Paradise Dynasty restaurant I went in to Paradise Dynasty on a Saturday night for dinner. I got there early, at 6pm and had no problems getting a table. I ordered an entrée of Spicy Szechuan Chicken and their signature dish, a selection of the various flavours of Shanghai Soup Dumpling. I was not expecting the Spicy Szechan Chicken dish to be served cold, it was like it was straight from the fridge but surprisingly it was really tasty even though it was cold. The Shanghai Soup dumplings are served in a large bamboo steamer. Each dumpling has a different colour, which equals a different flavor. The flavours include Original, Steamed Foie Gras, Steamed Black Truffle, Steamed Crab Roe, Steamed Ginseng, Steamed Cheesy, Steamed Garlic and Steamed Szechuan . To me they all taste mostly the same, a little bit of different flavor in the dumpling skins but the same yummy pork mince inside the dumpling with the traditional soup that oozes out when you bite into the dumplings. As well as having restaurants in Singapore. Paradise Dynasty also has restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Hong Kong, Jakarta, and in Bali. November 11, 2015Toh-Gu Chinese Restaurant is located within the Hilton Hotel in Odaiba Tokyo. Serving up Cantonese food including Yum Cha / Dim Sum dishes. I went in for a late lunch and wanted to try their Yum Cha. There are no trolleys going around like you would find in a Yum Cha restaurant in Hong Kong. Instead you order the Yum Cha / Dim Sum dishes al a carte from the menu and each dish is brought to your table freshly cooked. When I got to the restaurant I was the only person there. Not a great deal of atmoshere and the only view is out the side of the restaurant to the monorail line. There is one large dining room and the restaurant does have private dining rooms. Overall the dishes were nice but I would not go out of my way to go back to this Chinese restaurant in Tokyo! There are plenty more in the heart of Tokyo which are much better. I ordered 3 dishes, the deep fried spring rolls, the BBQ Pork buns and the best dish of all the steamed leek and shrimp dumplings. October 27, 2015Jade Garden Chinese Restaurant is a high class Chinese Restaurant located within the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Nishi-Shinjuku Tokyo, just a 10 minute walk from Shinjuku Train Station. Jade Garden Chinese Restaurant Shinjuku Tokyo I stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tokyo a few times a year. I usually get into Jade Garden Chinese Restaurant for either lunch or dinner during each stay. Jade Garden serves a range of Chinese cuisine including food from Beijing, Shanghai and Cantonese food including Dim Sum (Yum Cha). The Dim Sum dishes are available for both lunch or dinner. My most recent visit was for dinner last week when I enjoyed some delicious Shanghai soup dumplings with crab meat as an entree and for main meal I had their braised chicken with spicy sauce and a bowl of rice. Shanghai Soup Dumplings at Jade Garden Chinese Restaurant Braised chicken with spicy sauce at Jade Garden Chinese Restaurant Prices are a bit higher than your standard Chinese Restaurant in Tokyo though not really high considering this restaurant is in a 5 star hotel. The quality of the food and the exceptional service does warrant the prices. The dining room is a nice large area with enough space between tables to give diners privacy. February 17, 2015Chinese Cafe Eight is a chain of Chinese Restaurants in Tokyo Japan. They offer an exciting menu with Chinese food from different regions of China. The restaurants also have a very unusual (and a little risqué) decor – read on for more information and pictures of the decor. Chinese Cafe Eight Restaurant Roppongi Tokyo I have dined at the Chinese Cafe Eight restaurant in Roppongi, which is located directly across from the Grand Hyatt Hotel, just behind the huge Roppongi Hills Shopping Mall. I had dined twice at this restaurant and did not notice the unusual decor. Another big plus for the restaurant in Roppongi is that it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A great place to head to after all the pubs and clubs close in Roppongi. First time I went in, I was staying at the Grand Hyatt Hotel and had walked out to get something to eat. Out the front of the Hyatt I could smell the lovely aromas coming from the restaurant so walked across the road and went in. I sat at one of the large communal dining tables which has a huge metal bell suspended over the table. The menu was huge, offering so many different types of Chinese food including dumplings, noodle soups, stir fried dishes and some lovely looking Peking Duck. Peking Duck Chinese Cafe Eight Tokyo Second time I went in, I had been doing some shopping at Roppongi Hills and decided to go back as remember the great Chinese food. Again I sat at the same communal table, under the huge bell, and still didn’t notice the unusual decor. Third time round I had taken my female boss and 5 other colleagues who had flown in from the US. I had taken them to Roppongi Hills for some shopping and then took them to Chinese Cafe Eight for a good Chinese feed. We sat at a large round table in the middle of the restaurant. As soon as we sat down my boss pointed up to the roof above our table and asked me what that was. I looked up and had to get out of my chair to see what was hanging from the roof. As I stood and took a step back I started to comprehend what I was looking at. Boobs and bums! There was a whole series of what looked like plaster casts of breasts and bums directly above our table. My colleagues didn’t believe me that I had not noticed these before. Risque decor at Chinese Cafe Eight Tokyo We all had a laugh and then scanned around the restaurant to discover the restaurant was full of these sorts of decorations. One of the colleagues from the US had gone to the bathrooms and came back and told me to check out the recess in the wall covered by some red curtains on the way to the bathrooms. I went up to check it out. I opened up the red curtains to peer inside to a wonderful collection of golden dongs with coins thrown on as some sort of wish or offerings to the dongs! Decor at Chinese Cafe Eight On the way back from the bathrooms, I looked over at the communal table I had sat at twice before and then noticed that the large donger that rings the bell was another large dong, phallus symbol. How did I not notice this before? I put it down to being focused on the delicious Chinese food!! Large bell in Chinese Cafe Eight I will definitely go back to dine at Chinese Cafe Eight and want to get around to all the different locations in Tokyo to see what interesting decor they have in their restaurants. I would say that the food at Chinese Cafe Eight is the best Chinese food I have eaten in Tokyo. And with the very interesting decor it makes it so much more than your typical Chinese Restaurant. Spicy Sichuan chicken at Chinese Cafe Eight As well as the restaurant in Roppongi, Chinese Cafe Eight have restaurants located in Tokyo at Ebisu, Akasaka, Shinjuku and Shinsaibashi. Check out the Chinese Cafe Eight website; (in English). Their website proudly announces they serve the Best Peking Duck in Tokyo!
