The Complete Guide to Sukhumvit Bangkok – Soi 1 to Soi 63 – 2025/2026 Edition
Lower Sukhumvit at golden hour – 12 BTS stations, endless nightlife, malls, and street food. The beating heart of tourist Bangkok in 2025/2026.

(Everything you need to eat, drink, stay, party and survive Bangkok’s most famous tourist artery)

Sukhumvit Road is 488 km long and ends at the Cambodian border.
99 % of visitors never make it past the first 15 km – and for very good reason. This stretch from Soi 1 to Soi 63 (Nana to Ekkamai) is the beating heart of tourist Bangkok: rooftop bars, street food, gogo bars, Korean BBQ, Japanese izakayas, luxury malls, backpacker hostels, and everything in between. It has its own BTS Skytrain line, two MRT stops, and more hotels than most Thai provinces.

If you only read one Sukhumvit guide, make it this one.

The Soi-by-Soi Breakdown (2025 Edition)

Soi 1
The “get-well-soon” soi. Bumrungrad International Hospital sucks in half the medical tourists in Asia – you’ll see more wheelchairs and IV drips than flip-flops.
Fun fact: There’s a 7-Eleven inside the hospital that sells caviar and champagne for post-op celebrations.
Hotels: Hyatt Place Sukhumvit 1, I-Residence Hotel. There are 4 other 7-Elevens a limp from the hospital.
Eat: Thanaka Myanmar Restaurant – a Hidden GEM!

Soi 2
Luxury cul-de-sac that feels like a resort driveway. JW Marriott and DoubleTree by Hilton dominate; the rest is leafy and quiet.
Fun fact: The soi is a dead-end – zero through traffic, zero noise but walk 1 soi down to Soi 4. Bang.
Eat: Man Ho Chinese inside JW Marriott – very very good Dim Sum or Beirut Lebanese Restaurant fine-dining

Soi 3 & 3/1
Soi Arab – Middle Eastern heaven. Shisha smoke thicker than Bangkok fog, lamb mandi until 4 am, and the strongest Arabic coffee outside Riyadh.
Top eats: Mahmoud Shawarma for only 70 Baht (Syrian), Ibrahim (Levantine), Nefirtiti (Egyptian).
Fun fact: During Ramadan the entire soi becomes one giant iftar party – free dates everywhere.

Here is how Soi Arab really looks:

Soi 4 – Soi Nana
Nana Plaza: three floors of neon, go-go and chaos. Hillary Bar, Stumble Inn (my personal office – I only Stumble Out), Morning Night for the walk of shame. For those needing a quick escape from Soi 4’s neon frenzy, the forested end of Benjakitti Park is just an 8 minute walk at the end of Soi 4.
Fun fact: The 1-Baht water vending machines on this soi have saved more hungover tourists than paracetamol.
Hotels: Nana Hotel (old-school), Novotel Sukhumvit.

Soi 6
Surprisingly chill pocket. Parkroyal Suites and Citrus Sukhumvit 6 are solid mid-range picks.
Sports bars: Lost Aussie, The Kicking Donkey.
Eat: Zam Zam Halal Food – killer roti with curry.
Short cut: Soi 6 starts from Soi 4 (next to Novotel) and it’s a dead-end but has a secret passage into Soi 8. Worth knowing to avoid the foot traffic on Sukhumvit Road.

Soi 7
Beer-bar square at the entrance (loud, cheap, friendly), then offices and tailors.
Fun fact: One of the last places you can still get a 70-baht draft Chang at 3 pm.

Soi 8

Backpacker central + sports bars. Budget hotels everywhere.
Eat: Vesuvio Pizza (best pizza on lower Sukhumvit), Viva Sports Bar (really good food!).
Hotel pick: On8 right next to Nana BTS entrance escalators. Plenty of other budget hotels around 1400 – 1600 Thb per night A$66 – A$76

Soi 11
The current nightlife king. Sugar Club, Levels, Above Eleven rooftop, Insanity nightclub, live music at Bang Bang Burgers late night – Daytime burgers, nighttime cocktails and jazz.
Food: Breakfast Story, El Gaucho. Tony’s New York Style Italian, TONKATSU KATSU ICHI 勝一
Hotels: Mercure, Citadines, Grand President, Aloft (rooftop infinity pool – very nice).

The hidden food alley everyone eventually discovers. Krua Khun Puk legendary cheap Thai (50-baht Braised Pork noodle soup since forever), my favourite Japanese – Yuna,
Beer: Orange Bangkok Bar or just around the corner on Sukhumvit Road is my favourite beer bar Lek’s Last Stand
Hotel: Ramada by Wyndham Bangkok Sukhumvit 11. There is also one of the cheapest hotels in Sukhumvit – iCheck Inn Nana.

When Optimus Prime heard Krua Khun Puk still serves 60-baht som tam after midnight… he came himself. Soi 11/1, Bangkok – where even Autobots queue for Thai food.

Soi 13
Five-star corner: Hyatt Regency and Sofitel stare at each other across the road.
Pubs: Red Lion British Pub (proper pints), Sportsman (best sports bar in Bangkok), Old German Beer House.

Getting quieter but still solid for a quiet pint
Eat and drink: O’Leary’s Irish Pub

Soi 19
Terminal 21 mall (airport-themed floors), Asok BTS/MRT interchange.
Food: The best food court in Bangkok inside Terminal 21 called Pier 21. Meals for 25 – 40 baht.
Hotel: Westin Grande Sukhumvit (executive lounge views are insane).

Soi 21
Home to the famous Soi Cowboy – 1 of many nightlife areas of Bangkok but this one dates back to 1977. Cheap beer, loud music. Tilac Bar, Baccara, Shark – the classics. Live music at Penny Black (reservations are key every night to get a table to watch the bands).
Hotel: Citadines Sukhumvit 23 (aparthotel, great value).

Soi 22 – Sukhumvit’s Chill Nightlife Pocket
Soi 22 has quietly turned into one of lower Sukhumvit’s best after-dark hangs without the madness of Soi 11 or Cowboy. Craft-beer bars (Hair of the Dog, Tichaa), and a hidden fairy-light beer garden halfway down draw expats and locals who want good vibes and cheap drinks. Still relaxed enough to grab a table anytime, but trendy enough for new spots opening monthly. 8-minute walk from Phrom Phong BTS – perfect low-key night out.

Soi 23
Other end of Soi Cowboy + Sukhumvit MRT entrance.
Hotel: Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok.
Food and Beer: The Clubhouse Sports Bar (2nd best sports bar in Sukhumvit) and the best Vietnamese restaurant in Sukhumvit – Le Dalat

Soi 24 – My personal favourite.
The EmDistrict trifecta (Emporium, EmQuartier, Emsphere Shopping Malls – visit them all), Phrom Phong BTS.
Food: Ichiban Ramen (my 2nd favourite), Kakurega Shizuku izakaya (my favourite Izakaya – I have many favourites), The Library Cafe and surprise, my favourite Tonkatsu is at Tonkastu Koseki on Soi 24!

Hotels: Hilton Sukhumvit 24, Hyatt Place Phrom Phong, Em District serviced apartments.

Old-school expat bars (The Office, Monet, Londoner brewpub). Much quieter than a decade ago, but still fun for a pint crawl.

Soi 37
Home to the cheap eats Institution – Im Chan

Soi 39
Gateway to the Phetchaburi side. Cheap local eats, great laundries.

Soi 55 – Thong Lor
Bangkok’s hipster capital.Craft-beer bars (Hair of the Dog, Wishbeer), rooftop madness (Octave, Tichuca).
Hotels: Akyra Thonglor, Jasmine Grande Residence.
Residences: Million dollar apartments for rent or sale

Soi 63 – Ekkamai
Thong Lo’s cooler younger brother. Ekkamai Bus Terminal (Pattaya buses every 30 mins), craft-beer heaven (Tichaa, Brewski), and the unofficial “end of tourist Sukhumvit”.
Eat: Soul Food Mahanakorn (elevated Thai), Little Beast (NY-style bar).
Hotel: Jazz Hotel Bangkok (new, great price).

Family & Off-the-Beaten-Path Picks on Sukhumvit

Science Center for Education (Bangkok Planetarium)
Tucked away between Soi 62 and Soi 63 (2-minute walk from Ekkamai BTS Exit 2), the Science Center for Education (also known as the Bangkok Planetarium) is one of the only proper tourist attractions on the entire Sukhumvit strip that isn’t a mall or a bar.
[insert the paragraph above here]
Ideal rainy-day or kid-with-you escape – and at 50 THB entry it’s basically free.Boom. Done.
It adds value, improves dwell time, and gives the guide that “I didn’t know this existed!” moment that makes people share it.
